September 2026 Bourbon Club: George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel “Blackwell’s Barrel” Tennessee Whisky — 96.1 Proof

The September Bourbon Club release is something genuinely special: George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel “Blackwell’s Barrel” Tennessee Whisky, a hand-selected single cask chosen specifically for Blackwell’s and bottled at its natural barrel strength of 96.1 proof.

Unlike standard whiskey releases that blend numerous barrels together to create a consistent house style, this bottle comes from one individual 15-year-old barrel. No blending with other casks. No attempt to reproduce it again. Once this Blackwell’s barrel is gone, it’s gone.

Produced at the historic Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee, this release combines George Dickel’s signature charcoal-mellowed Tennessee whisky character with an impressive 15 years of maturation in American oak. The result is a true one-of-one Bourbon Club selection and exactly the kind of whiskey we love finding for our members.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Producer: George Dickel / Cascade Hollow Distillery

Style: Tennessee Whisky — Single Barrel

Age: 15 Years

Barrel Selection: “Blackwell’s Barrel” — hand-selected specifically for Blackwell’s Wines & Spirits

Maturation: Aged for 15 years in new charred American oak, allowing the individual barrel to develop its own distinctive character over more than a decade of maturation.

Process: Produced using the traditional Lincoln County Process, with the spirit mellowed through sugar maple charcoal before entering the barrel.

Bottling: Single barrel, unblended and bottled at the barrel’s natural strength.

Proof / ABV: 96.1 Proof (48.05% ABV)

Tasting Profile

Because this is a true single-barrel selection, its exact flavor profile belongs entirely to this individual cask. Rather than assigning tasting notes from another George Dickel barrel to this unique Blackwell’s selection, we think the best way to discover it is in the glass.

George Dickel’s mature single-barrel whiskies are known for developing rich layers of caramelized sweetness, maple, mature oak, baking spice, fruit and char, with 15 years in the barrel providing substantial depth and structure.

At 96.1 proof, the Blackwell’s Barrel should be approached as it was bottled: an individual expression of one particular cask after 15 years of maturation.

And there is only one way to find out exactly what this barrel has to say.

Open it.

Food & Pairings

Serve / Style: We recommend trying your first pour neat in a Glencairn glass. Give the whisky several minutes to open before adding a few drops of water if desired.

Cocktail Use: While certainly capable of making an exceptional Old Fashioned or Manhattan, this is a 15-year Blackwell’s single barrel that deserves to be explored neat first.

Food Pairings

• Grilled ribeye, smoked brisket, short ribs, or slow-smoked barbecue

• Maple-glazed pork, roast duck, or charred sausages

• Pecan pie, dark chocolate, bread pudding, or crème brûlée

• Aged cheddar, smoked Gouda, Gruyère, or blue cheese

• Medium to full-bodied cigars with cedar, leather, cocoa, toasted oak, and baking spice character

The George Dickel 15 Year Single Barrel “Blackwell’s Barrel” Tennessee Whisky is exactly what the Bourbon Club is supposed to be about: finding bottles our members aren't simply going to encounter everywhere else.

One barrel. Fifteen years old. 96.1 proof. Hand-selected specifically for Blackwell’s.

Every single-barrel whiskey is inherently limited, but this one takes that idea literally. There will never be another barrel exactly like it.

Once the Blackwell’s Barrel is gone, this particular whiskey is gone with it.

A genuinely unique selection and a fitting centerpiece for the September 2026 Bourbon Club.
