Found North Batch 004 - 18yr Cask Strength Whisky

Batch 004 was created around a 21 year corn component with lovely caramel, butterscotch and vanilla notes. We intensified and concentrated those flavors using a highly viscous and naturally sweet 25 year corn component aged in Hungarian oak. We balanced the viscosity with spice and fruit from a combination of two different style ryes, both aged for 18 years. The first was aged in ex-Speyside scotch casks providing rich, fresh fruit. The second was aged in rechar American oak, which cut the viscosity in the mid palate with a distinct tingling cardamom and ginger quality.

The 25 year corn in Hungarian oak had a lovely dual effect on the whisky. On one hand it took the vanillins from the corn components and dipped them in a bowl of rich, hot molasses. On the other hand it provided a burnt sugar effect on the fresh fruit, giving them a candied tropical fruit note. The result is a powerhouse whisky, intensely rich and syrupy from start to very long finish, layered with bursts of fruit, cast-iron cornbread and demerara sugar.
